Solar Power: Fistere Residence
The Fistere's had a mix of motivators for going solar. Naturally they wanted save money on their electric bills. When they originally considered going solar they were limited with the available roof space to a system that would not eliminate their bill. Also, the roof condition was not suitable for an installation of this size. Sullivan Solar Power sited a ground mounted array 200 feet from the house to deliver the needed kilowatt hours and to insure the roof condition was not further compromised. The system isn't visible from anywhere on the property. The Fisteres have been so pleased with the results of the system that they have hosted the Solar Homes Tour two years in a row to help promote the use of solar.
On average, each year a solar energy system this size will:
Generate 3,750 to 5,000 kilowatt hours of clean renewable solar power.
Avoid the creation of 6,200 pounds of harmful carbon dioxide released into our air.
Provide the system owner with $1,100 in Solar Power Savings.
